7-Step QT Notes
1. π Quiet Time
Pause.
Take a deep breath.
Ask God to help you remember that every good thing comes from his grace and to show you how to express your gratitude through dedication and obedience.
2. π October 4, 2026
Today’s passage reminds us:
True gratitude begins by remembering God’s grace and becomes visible when we dedicate what we have to him and treat others with justice.
3. ✝️ 1 Chronicles 18:9-17
When Tou heard that David had defeated Hadadezer, he sent Hadoram with gifts to congratulate him. David dedicated these gifts and the spoils from other nations to the LORD. Abishai subdued Edom, and the LORD gave David victory wherever he went. David ruled all Israel with justice and equity and appointed leaders over the army, priesthood, records, and royal service.
4. π Key Verse
And the LORD gave victory to David wherever he went (v. 13b).
5. π Reflection
Korea has a special observance called Teachers’ Day. It did not begin as a government-created occasion but as a small volunteer effort in which students visited teachers who were ill or retired. As this movement spread nationwide, it became established as Teachers’ Day. Even today, on May 15, many people remember and express gratitude not only to their schoolteachers but also to those who taught, supported, and helped them grow.
God promised to be with David and to subdue all his enemies before him. Throughout David’s continuing battles against his adversaries, God faithfully fulfilled this covenant promise. David trusted God’s promise and faithfully carried out the mission entrusted to him. Moreover, he expressed his gratitude to God through two specific actions.
First, David dedicated to God not only the silver and gold captured in battle but also the various articles brought to him by neighboring nations. He did not regard these things merely as rewards for his own labor and effort. Instead, he acknowledged that everything had come from God and set it apart for God.
Second, as David ruled a powerful kingdom, he treated all his people with justice and equity. He understood that he had not become king through his own strength but had been appointed by God. Therefore, he sought to govern the people according to God’s will rather than according to his own desires or ambitions.
Dear brothers and sisters, in this world, remembering a teacher’s kindness and expressing gratitude even once a year may seem sufficient. However, even 365 days a year would not be enough for us to remember and give thanks for God’s grace. Our salvation and every good thing we enjoy ultimately come from his grace.
Many believers who came before us were willing to risk their lives on mission fields and amid persecution because they understood the greatness of the grace they had received. They did not express their gratitude merely in words. They demonstrated it through dedication and obedience.
Remember and give thanks for God’s grace through your daily Quiet Time. May you put that gratitude into practice by dedicating your life to God and treating others with justice and righteousness.

- Does the way I treat others reflect God’s justice, generosity, and grace?
- What is one specific action I can take today to turn my gratitude into obedience?
7. π Prayer
Our heavenly Father, thank You for being the source of every good gift.
Forgive me for taking credit for what Your grace has provided.
Help me remember that my salvation, abilities, opportunities, relationships, and resources all come from You.
Teach me to dedicate what I have to Your purposes and to treat others with justice, fairness, and compassion.
May my gratitude become visible through faithful obedience today.
Amen.
Scriptures
π (1 Chronicles 18:9-17, ESV).
9 When Tou king of Hamath heard that David had defeated the whole army of Hadadezer, king of Zobah, 10 he sent his son Hadoram to King David, to ask about his health and to bless him because he had fought against Hadadezer and defeated him; for Hadadezer had often been at war with Tou. And he sent all sorts of articles of gold, of silver, and of bronze. 11 These also King David dedicated to the LORD, together with the silver and gold that he had carried off from all the nations, from Edom, Moab, the Ammonites, the Philistines, and Amalek.
12 And Abishai, the son of Zeruiah, killed 18,000 Edomites in the Valley of Salt. 13 Then he put garrisons in Edom, and all the Edomites became David’s servants. And the LORD gave victory to David wherever he went.
14 So David reigned over all Israel, and he administered justice and equity to all his people. 15 And Joab the son of Zeruiah was over the army; and Jehoshaphat the son of Ahilud was recorder; 16 and Zadok the son of Ahitub and Ahimelech the son of Abiathar were priests; and Shavsha was secretary; 17 and Benaiah the son of Jehoiada was over the Cherethites and the Pelethites; and David’s sons were the chief officials in the service of the king.
