How to Stay Faithful in 2026 ✨ | Joshua 24 Devotional (7-Step QT)
7-Step QT Notes
1. π Quiet Time
Pause.
Take a deep breath.
Ask God to help you finish this year remembering His faithfulness.
2. π December 31, 2025
Today’s passage reminds us:
Faithfulness is not automatic—it must be intentional.
3. ✝️ Joshua 24:25–33
Joshua made a covenant with the people at Shechem, establishing statutes and writing them in the Book of the Law. He set up a large stone as a witness to their commitment to God. Afterward, Joshua sent the people to their inheritance. Joshua died at 110 and was buried in Timnath-serah. Israel served the Lord throughout Joshua’s life and during the lives of the elders who witnessed God’s works. Joseph’s bones were buried at Shechem, fulfilling Jacob’s purchase of land. Eleazar, the priest, also died and was buried in Ephraim’s hill country.
4. π Key Verse
Israel served the LORD all the days of Joshua, and all the days of the elders who outlived Joshua and had known all the work that the LORD did for Israel (v. 31).
5. π Reflection
If you’ve been following the book of Joshua, you know verse 31 isn’t just a happy ending. Israel experienced incredible victories—Jericho fell, God fought for them—but they never fully conquered all the land. Worse, as time passed, they enjoyed God’s blessings yet slowly forgot who He was (see Judges 2:6–15).
Friends, how was your year? Did you experience God’s victories? Or did you settle into comfort and forget His goodness? This passage is a wake-up call: faithfulness fades when we stop remembering.
As we close this year, let’s choose to stay awake spiritually. God’s love never quits, and we cannot live a single moment without Him. Until the day we reach heaven, let’s live in His love—fully aware, fully committed.
6. π¬ What does this passage speak to you today?
- Where have I grown spiritually this year?
- Where have I drifted into comfort and forgotten God?
- What intentional step will I take to stay faithful in the new year?
7. π Prayer
Lord, thank You for Your faithfulness this year.
Help me never forget who You are and what You’ve done.
Keep me awake in faith and living in Your love every day.
Amen.
Scriptures
π 25 So Joshua made a covenant with the people that day, and put in place statutes and rules for them at Shechem. 26 And Joshua wrote these words in the Book of the Law of God. And he took a large stone and set it up there under the terebinth that was by the sanctuary of the LORD. 27 And Joshua said to all the people, “Behold, this stone shall be a witness against us, for it has heard all the words of the LORD that he spoke to us. Therefore it shall be a witness against you, lest you deal falsely with your God.” 28 So Joshua sent the people away, every man to his inheritance.
29 After these things Joshua the son of Nun, the servant of the LORD, died, being 110 years old. 30 And they buried him in his own inheritance at Timnath-serah, which is in the hill country of Ephraim, north of the mountain of Gaash.
31 Israel served the LORD all the days of Joshua, and all the days of the elders who outlived Joshua and had known all the work that the LORD did for Israel.
32 As for the bones of Joseph, which the people of Israel brought up from Egypt, they buried them at Shechem, in the piece of land that Jacob bought from the sons of Hamor the father of Shechem for a hundred pieces of money. It became an inheritance of the descendants of Joseph.
33 And Eleazar the son of Aaron died, and they buried him at Gibeah, the town of Phinehas his son, which had been given him in the hill country of Ephraim (Joshua 24:25-33, ESV).
