π I made my vow to you and entered into a covenant with you, declares the Lord GOD, and you became mine. And your renown went forth among the nations because of your beauty, for it was perfect through the splendor that I had bestowed on you, declares the Lord GOD. (vv. 8b, 14)

π God’s love story with us mirrors the beauty of grace: He chose us when we were unworthy, adorned us, and made us His. Our value and beauty come from Him alone. His unconditional love still covers us today.

7-Step QT Notes
1. π Quiet Time
Pause.
Take a deep breath.
Ask God to help you remember His love for you—and to see yourself through His grace.
2. π August 10, 2025
Today’s passage reminds us that God’s love is not earned—it’s given.
He chose us, adorned us, and made us His own.
This is grace.
3. ✝️ Ezekiel 16:1–14
God paints a vivid picture of Israel’s past: abandoned, vulnerable, and unworthy.
Yet He chose her, cared for her, and made a covenant of love.
“I made my vow to you and entered into a covenant with you… and you became mine.” (v. 8)
“Your beauty was perfect through the splendor I had bestowed on you.” (v. 14)
Israel’s beauty and reputation came not from herself—but from God’s love and favor.
4. π Key Verse
“I made my vow to you and entered into a covenant with you, declares the Lord GOD, and you became mine… Your beauty was perfect through the splendor that I had bestowed on you.” (vv. 8b, 14)
5. π Reflection
Think of the most beautiful love stories—where the heroine is broken, yet chosen and cherished.
That’s our story with God.
We were unworthy, but He loved us anyway.
He didn’t wait for us to be perfect—He made us beautiful through His grace.
π‘ Application Point:
- Do you believe you are loved by God—not because of what you’ve done, but because of who He is?
- Are you living as someone who belongs to Him?
- Let His love define your worth—not your past or performance.
6. π¬ What does this passage speak to you today?
- How does knowing you are chosen and loved by God change the way you see yourself?
- What would it look like to live today as someone deeply cherished by Him?
7. π Prayer
God, thank You for loving me when I had nothing to offer.
You made me Yours and adorned me with grace.
Help me live today in the confidence of Your love.
Let my life reflect the beauty You’ve given me.
Amen.
Scriptures
π 1 Again the word of the LORD came to me: 2 “Son of man, make known to Jerusalem her abominations, 3 and say, Thus says the Lord GOD to Jerusalem: Your origin and your birth are of the land of the Canaanites; your father was an Amorite and your mother a Hittite. 4 And as for your birth, on the day you were born your cord was not cut, nor were you washed with water to cleanse you, nor rubbed with salt, nor wrapped in swaddling cloths. 5 No eye pitied you, to do any of these things to you out of compassion for you, but you were cast out on the open field, for you were abhorred, on the day that you were born.
6 “And when I passed by you and saw you wallowing in your blood, I said to you in your blood, ‘Live!’ I said to you in your blood, ‘Live!’ 7 I made you flourish like a plant of the field. And you grew up and became tall and arrived at full adornment. Your breasts were formed, and your hair had grown; yet you were naked and bare.
8 “When I passed by you again and saw you, behold, you were at the age for love, and I spread the corner of my garment over you and covered your nakedness; I made my vow to you and entered into a covenant with you, declares the Lord GOD, and you became mine. 9 Then I bathed you with water and washed off your blood from you and anointed you with oil. 10 I clothed you also with embroidered cloth and shod you with fine leather. I wrapped you in fine linen and covered you with silk. 11 And I adorned you with ornaments and put bracelets on your wrists and a chain on your neck. 12 And I put a ring on your nose and earrings in your ears and a beautiful crown on your head. 13 Thus you were adorned with gold and silver, and your clothing was of fine linen and silk and embroidered cloth. You ate fine flour and honey and oil. You grew exceedingly beautiful and advanced to royalty. 14 And your renown went forth among the nations because of your beauty, for it was perfect through the splendor that I had bestowed on you, declares the Lord GOD (Ezek 16:1-14, ESV).
