2026-08-20 | ❤️ God Accepts You in Christ | Ezekiel 43 Devotional (7-Step QT)

7-Step QT Notes

1. 🙏 Quiet Time

Pause.

Take a deep breath.

Ask God to help you understand that you do not have to earn his acceptance. Thank him for providing forgiveness and welcoming you through Jesus Christ.

2. 📅 August 20, 2026

Today’s passage reminds us:

We are not accepted by God because we have made ourselves worthy. We are accepted because God has provided atonement for us, ultimately fulfilled through the sacrifice of Jesus Christ.

3. ✝️ Ezekiel 43:13-27

The LORD gives Ezekiel the altar’s measurements and ordinances. When it is erected, the Zadokite priests are to purify and make atonement for it with blood and unblemished offerings. For seven days they consecrate the altar with sin offerings, a bull, and a ram. From the eighth day onward, they may present burnt and peace offerings, and the LORD promises to accept his people.

4. 📖 Key Verse

”And when they have completed these days, then from the eighth day onward the priests shall offer on the altar your burnt offerings and your peace offerings, and I will accept you, declares the Lord GOD” (v. 27).

5. 📝 Reflection

“To be saved simply by believing” is not an incorrect statement. However, it is a simplified expression of the gospel truth that we are saved by faith, and it is also incomplete because it does not explain whom we must believe in or what kind of faith brings salvation. Saving faith is never merely intellectual agreement or an act of human determination.

If faith were a simple choice made possible by human will alone, why would there be so many people in the world who do not believe? Why do our beloved family members and friends remain unbelieving even after we share the gospel with them? This may also be why the Gospels, which record the works of Jesus Christ, and the Epistles written by his disciples repeatedly explain the nature of faith. Faith is not a conviction that human beings produce by themselves. It is the gracious work that God brings about within us through the gospel.

The altar described in today’s QT passage was built according to the design that God himself established. God also prescribed the regulations for the sacrifices offered on it. He personally taught his people even the proper methods and order for presenting burnt offerings, sin offerings, and peace offerings. Why did God design and teach all these things in such detail?

There may be several explanations, but today’s passage makes one truth especially clear. For sinners to receive atonement and cleansing and to be accepted by the holy God is neither a light nor a simple matter. For sinners to approach God, the atonement appointed by God was absolutely necessary. Human beings cannot cleanse or make themselves holy through their own will and effort.

Beloved brothers and sisters, remember that we can be saved by faith because Jesus Christ became the sacrificial offering in our place on the cross. God accepts us because the Son of God, who came in human flesh, offered himself as the sacrifice for us. In other words, our salvation by faith is not something cheap. It was made possible by costly grace, purchased through the Son of God giving his own life.

Therefore, to believe in the name of Jesus Christ, receive salvation, and become a child of God is entirely God’s gift. We confess that this gift is grace. May this confession fill your day with joy. Since God has gladly accepted us in Christ, what could possibly happen today that would take away the joy of our salvation?

6. 💬 What does this passage speak to you today?

  • Am I trusting in Jesus Christ, or am I trying to prove that I am worthy of God’s acceptance?
  • What achievement, relationship, or opinion has been shaping my sense of worth lately?
  • Is there a failure, weakness, or sin that I have been trying to hide from God?
  • How would my attitude toward work, relationships, and responsibilities change if I remembered that God accepts me in Christ?
  • What is one thing I can do today from the security of God’s grace rather than from the fear of failure?

7. 🙏 Prayer

Our heavenly Father, thank You for providing the way for sinners to approach You.

Forgive me for trying to cleanse myself, prove my worth, or earn Your acceptance through my own efforts.

Help me trust in Christ’s sufficient sacrifice rather than in my achievements, emotions, or spiritual performance.

Let me work, serve, and love others today from the security of knowing that I am accepted in Christ.

Amen.

Scriptures

📖 (Ezekiel 43:13-27, ESV).

13 “These are the measurements of the altar by cubits (the cubit being a cubit and a handbreadth): its base shall be one cubit high and one cubit broad, with a rim of one span around its edge. And this shall be the height of the altar: 14 from the base on the ground to the lower ledge, two cubits, with a breadth of one cubit; and from the smaller ledge to the larger ledge, four cubits, with a breadth of one cubit; 15 and the altar hearth, four cubits; and from the altar hearth projecting upward, four horns. 16 The altar hearth shall be square, twelve cubits long by twelve broad. 17 The ledge also shall be square, fourteen cubits long by fourteen broad, with a rim around it half a cubit broad, and its base one cubit all around. The steps of the altar shall face east.”
18 And he said to me, “Son of man, thus says the Lord GOD: These are the ordinances for the altar: On the day when it is erected for offering burnt offerings upon it and for throwing blood against it, 19 you shall give to the Levitical priests of the family of Zadok, who draw near to me to minister to me, declares the Lord GOD, a bull from the herd for a sin offering. 20 And you shall take some of its blood and put it on the four horns of the altar and on the four corners of the ledge and upon the rim all around. Thus you shall purify the altar and make atonement for it. 21 You shall also take the bull of the sin offering, and it shall be burned in the appointed place belonging to the temple, outside the sacred area. 22 And on the second day you shall offer a male goat without blemish for a sin offering; and the altar shall be purified, as it was purified with the bull. 23 When you have finished purifying it, you shall offer a bull from the herd without blemish and a ram from the flock without blemish. 24 You shall present them before the LORD, and the priests shall sprinkle salt on them and offer them up as a burnt offering to the LORD. 25 For seven days you shall provide daily a male goat for a sin offering; also, a bull from the herd and a ram from the flock, without blemish, shall be provided. 26 Seven days shall they make atonement for the altar and cleanse it, and so consecrate it. 27 And when they have completed these days, then from the eighth day onward the priests shall offer on the altar your burnt offerings and your peace offerings, and I will accept you, declares the Lord GOD.”
