7-Step QT Notes

1. πŸ™ Quiet Time

Pause.

Take a deep breath.

Ask God to help you see that true blessing does not come from perfect circumstances, but from his gracious presence and restoring work.

2. πŸ“… August 5, 2026

Today’s passage reminds us:

Blessing does not come from finding the perfect place. It comes from God, who restores his people and reveals his grace through the places where they live.

3. ✝️ Ezekiel 36:1-15

Israel’s enemies seized and mocked its desolate mountains. The LORD swears that the surrounding nations will bear disgrace, while he restores his land. The mountains will bear fruit for his returning people; cities will be inhabited, ruins rebuilt, and people and animals multiplied. God will do more good than before, end Israel’s bereavement and reproach, and make them know that he is the LORD.

4. πŸ“– Key Verse

And I will multiply on you man and beast, and they shall multiply and be fruitful. And I will cause you to be inhabited as in your former times, and will do more good to you than ever before. Then you will know that I am the LORD (v. 11).

5. πŸ“ Reflection

People generally look for good land because they believe that it will make them prosperous and wealthy. Korean pungsu-jiri, or geomancy, also claims that the shapes and energies of mountains and rivers influence the fortune and misfortune of those who live there. From this perspective, the land is regarded as the source and channel through which people receive blessings.

Today’s Scripture, however, presents a completely different perspective. When the people of Israel came under God’s judgment, the land in which they lived also became desolate. Living in good land did not enable them to escape God’s judgment. When the Israelites were taken into exile, their land became an object of plunder for the surrounding nations. Conversely, when God brought the Israelites back, the land came alive again and began to bear fruit. As the people of Israel were restored, their land was restored with them. How was this possible? It was because God was the one who brought both judgment and restoration.

The world says that good land brings blessings to those who live in it, but Scripture declares that the source of blessing is not the land but God. When God blessed the people of Israel, the mountains of Israel displayed his grace and goodness. The land, therefore, is not the source of blessing but the place where God’s grace is revealed.

Dear brothers and sisters, are we wandering about in search of a blessed place? Do we think that our lives can improve only when our circumstances improve? Let us remember that it is not good land but our good God who makes our lives truly abundant.

Therefore, let us stop searching for better circumstances today. Instead, let us heal broken places with God’s love. Let us restore our homes, workplaces, and churches through God’s Word. Let us pray that every place where we dwell will display God’s grace. When we do so, the world will come to know God.

6. πŸ’¬ What does this passage speak to you today?

  • Am I depending on better circumstances to give me peace, security, or fulfillment?
  • Is there a relationship that I can begin restoring through the truth and grace of God’s Word?
  • How might God be calling me to bring his love into my home, workplace, school, church, or community?
  • What is one action I can take this week to make God’s grace more visible where I live?

7. πŸ™ Prayer

Our heavenly Father, thank You for being the true source of every blessing.

Forgive me for believing that better circumstances alone will make my life better.

Help me trust Your presence and restoring work wherever You have placed me.

May every place where I live, work, serve, and worship display Your grace.

Amen.

Scriptures

πŸ“– (Ezekiel 36:1-15, ESV).

1 “And you, son of man, prophesy to the mountains of Israel, and say, O mountains of Israel, hear the word of the LORD. 2 Thus says the Lord GOD: Because the enemy said of you, ‘Aha!’ and, ‘The ancient heights have become our possession,’ 3 therefore prophesy, and say, Thus says the Lord GOD: Precisely because they made you desolate and crushed you from all sides, so that you became the possession of the rest of the nations, and you became the talk and evil gossip of the people, 4 therefore, O mountains of Israel, hear the word of the Lord GOD: Thus says the Lord GOD to the mountains and the hills, the ravines and the valleys, the desolate wastes and the deserted cities, which have become a prey and derision to the rest of the nations all around, 5 therefore thus says the Lord GOD: Surely I have spoken in my hot jealousy against the rest of the nations and against all Edom, who gave my land to themselves as a possession with wholehearted joy and utter contempt, that they might make its pasturelands a prey. 6 Therefore prophesy concerning the land of Israel, and say to the mountains and hills, to the ravines and valleys, Thus says the Lord GOD: Behold, I have spoken in my jealous wrath, because you have suffered the reproach of the nations. 7 Therefore thus says the Lord GOD: I swear that the nations that are all around you shall themselves suffer reproach.
8 “But you, O mountains of Israel, shall shoot forth your branches and yield your fruit to my people Israel, for they will soon come home. 9 For behold, I am for you, and I will turn to you, and you shall be tilled and sown. 10 And I will multiply people on you, the whole house of Israel, all of it. The cities shall be inhabited and the waste places rebuilt. 11 And I will multiply on you man and beast, and they shall multiply and be fruitful. And I will cause you to be inhabited as in your former times, and will do more good to you than ever before. Then you will know that I am the LORD. 12 I will let people walk on you, even my people Israel. And they shall possess you, and you shall be their inheritance, and you shall no longer bereave them of children. 13 Thus says the Lord GOD: Because they say to you, ‘You devour people, and you bereave your nation of children,’ 14 therefore you shall no longer devour people and no longer bereave your nation of children, declares the Lord GOD. 15 And I will not let you hear anymore the reproach of the nations, and you shall no longer bear the disgrace of the peoples and no longer cause your nation to stumble, declares the Lord GOD.”
