Today’s passage reminds us:
God’s church is not built around our personal preferences, but through worship that builds up the body of Christ and reflects the peace of God.
3. ✝️ 1 Corinthians 14:26-40
Paul instructs the Corinthian church to use every gift—hymns, teaching, revelation, tongues, and interpretation—for building up the church. Tongues and prophecy must be practiced in order, with interpretation and discernment. Because God is not a God of confusion but of peace, worship must follow the Lord’s command and be done decently and in order.

5. 📝 Reflection
When I first visited a megachurch in the United States, I noticed two things that were both surprising and fascinating to me.
First, the pastor who preached that day was wearing a short-sleeved T-shirt, jeans, and sneakers. Since I had attended a rather conservative church for many years, seeing a Sunday worship preacher without a suit and tie felt like a fresh cultural shock.
Second, there was no benediction at the end of the service. For someone like me, who had thought that something would go terribly wrong if Sunday worship ended without receiving the benediction, it was a strange and unsettling experience. I felt confused even as I left the sanctuary and made my way home.
What do you think? Was that church too open and flexible? Or was I too confined within the familiar framework I had always known?
Among the many problems that arose in the Corinthian church, Paul approaches the divisions surrounding corporate worship with great care. He explains again and again so that even the smallest misunderstanding might be avoided. In particular, although he has already spoken about love as the most excellent way in relation to spiritual gifts, he continues to add further explanation.
Paul’s repeated explanations and teachings may seem repetitive, but they are actually directed toward one clear goal: “that everything may be done for the building up of the church” (cf. 1 Cor. 14:26). Likewise, doing “all things properly and in an orderly manner” is also for the purpose of building up God’s church according to God’s will (cf. 1 Cor. 14:40).
Dear brothers and sisters, even today, there are still various opinions and conflicts within the church regarding corporate worship. There are many issues that Paul did not directly mention. Yet even in the midst of such differences and divisions, we can still seek peace. This is because God is not a God of disorder, but a God of peace.
Therefore, when we pursue order that builds up the church according to God’s will, we will one day experience it: not a church shaped by what we desire or what looks good to us, but the church of God that is pleasing in His sight.

Our heavenly Father, thank You for calling us to be Your church.
Help me not to make worship about my own preferences, comfort, or expectations.
Teach me to use my gifts to build up others and to serve the body of Christ with humility and love.
Where there is division, teach us to pursue unity according to Your will.
May our church not simply become what looks good to us, but what is pleasing in Your sight.

26 What then, brothers? When you come together, each one has a hymn, a lesson, a revelation, a tongue, or an interpretation. Let all things be done for building up. 27 If any speak in a tongue, let there be only two or at most three, and each in turn, and let someone interpret. 28 But if there is no one to interpret, let each of them keep silent in church and speak to himself and to God. 29 Let two or three prophets speak, and let the others weigh what is said. 30 If a revelation is made to another sitting there, let the first be silent. 31 For you can all prophesy one by one, so that all may learn and all be encouraged, 32 and the spirits of prophets are subject to prophets. 33 For God is not a God of confusion but of peace. As in all the churches of the saints, 34 the women should keep silent in the churches.
