πŸ‘‘ Your Life Isn’t Held Together by You God Provides | Psalm 104 Devotional (7-Step QT)

7-Step QT Notes

1. πŸ™ Quiet Time

Pause.

Take a deep breath.

Ask God to open your eyes to see His care in the ordinary rhythms of life.

2. πŸ“… April 24, 2026

Today’s passage reminds us:

God faithfully provides for His creation and lovingly sustains our daily lives.

3. ✝️ Psalm 104:10-23

God causes springs to flow, waters the earth, and provides for animals, birds, trees, and human beings so that all creation may receive what it needs. He also appoints the moon and the sun to govern seasons and times, ordering the rhythms of night and day for both beasts and mankind. This passage shows that the life, provision, and order of the whole world are sustained under God’s wise and gracious rule.

4. πŸ“– Key Verse

The trees of the LORD are watered abundantly, the cedars of Lebanon that he planted (v. 16).

5. πŸ“ Reflection

Let us imagine this for a moment.

In a valley between high mountains, spring water flows down from the hills and gathers there, and animals drink from it. Seeds take root in the soil, sprout, and grow into stems, and people are nourished by the grass and vegetables that come from them. In the forest, trees grow thick and strong, spreading out their beautiful branches, and birds build nests there and raise their young. It is a peaceful sight. The sun rises and sets, and when winter passes, spring comes—these are patterns no one questions.

But dear friends, did you know that all of this is the work of God?

These moments, so familiar and peaceful that we often take them for granted, are actually under God’s sovereign rule. Even if we have failed to recognize this, it is not surprising. We are so used to these things that we accept them unconsciously. Yet one truth remains clear: all the peace and natural order around us come from God.

Beloved saints, the everyday life we enjoy is not something we have achieved by our own strength. It is a gift graciously given by God. It is not something we can obtain merely through our own effort and labor. Therefore, let us lay down our empty worries and meaningless striving, and come before God, the Lord of all these things. Obeying Him is our true joy and delight. May today be a blessed day in which we confess, “Hallelujah (Praise the LORD).”

6. πŸ’¬ What does this passage speak to you today?

  • What ordinary blessing in my life have I been taking for granted?
  • Where am I acting as if everything depends on my effort alone?
  • How does God’s care for creation help me trust Him with my needs today?

7. πŸ™ Prayer

Lord, thank You for sustaining all creation with Your wisdom and care.

Help me not to take Your daily provision for granted.

Teach me to trust You more, to lay down my anxious striving, and to live today with gratitude, obedience, and praise.

Amen.

Scriptures

πŸ“– (Psalm 104:10-23, ESV).

10 You make springs gush forth in the valleys; they flow between the hills; 11 they give drink to every beast of the field; the wild donkeys quench their thirst. 12 Beside them the birds of the heavens dwell; they sing among the branches. 13 From your lofty abode you water the mountains; the earth is satisfied with the fruit of your work.

14 You cause the grass to grow for the livestock and plants for man to cultivate, that he may bring forth food from the earth 15 and wine to gladden the heart of man, oil to make his face shine and bread to strengthen man’s heart.

16 The trees of the LORD are watered abundantly, the cedars of Lebanon that he planted. 17 In them the birds build their nests; the stork has her home in the fir trees. 18 The high mountains are for the wild goats; the rocks are a refuge for the rock badgers.

19 He made the moon to mark the seasons; the sun knows its time for setting. 20 You make darkness, and it is night, when all the beasts of the forest creep about. 21 The young lions roar for their prey, seeking their food from God. 22 When the sun rises, they steal away and lie down in their dens. 23 Man goes out to his work and to his labor until the evening.
