Today’s passage reminds us:
True peace begins when we remember God’s salvation and join creation in praising Him.
3. ✝️ Psalm 98:1-9
The Lord has revealed His marvelous salvation and righteousness before the nations, remembering His steadfast love and faithfulness to Israel. Therefore, all the earth is called to sing a new song and rejoice before the Lord, the King. Even the sea, rivers, and hills are summoned to celebrate, because He is coming to judge the world with righteousness and equity.
4. π Key Verse
Make a joyful noise before the King, the LORD! (v. 6b)
5. π Reflection
There have been times when my heart felt deeply heavy and troubled, and no matter what I tried, nothing seemed to make it better. One day, while taking a walk, I happened to come across a small stream. As I listened to the sound of the flowing water, I found myself taking a deep breath without realizing it, and I regained a sense of calm. Since then, whenever my heart grows heavy again or I cannot fall asleep, I often search for videos filled with the sounds of running streams, falling rain, crashing ocean waves, or leaves rustling in the wind beneath moving clouds. Through those moments, I experienced with my whole being that the sounds of nature can be more beautiful and more deeply comforting than any music made by human hands.
Then why is it that the sounds created by nature bring such stability and peace to our hearts? Science may offer many different explanations. Yet as I meditate on today’s psalm, I cannot help but think that perhaps it is because all these sounds are joyful praises lifted up to the Lord. If the whole earth is shouting, rejoicing, and singing praise to God, would it not be most natural that such sounds would also calm our hearts and fill us with peace?
Beloved saints, it is only fitting that the natural world, created by God, should praise Him. If so, how much more should we, who are God’s children, do the same? Today, let us raise our voices with joy and sing gladly to the Lord. Before God our King, let us lift up sounds of gladness and fully delight in the joy of His salvation. May this be a day in which we deeply realize that such praise is a wonderful privilege given to the children of God.
6. π¬ What does this passage speak to you today?
- What has been weighing down my heart lately?
- When I feel overwhelmed, where do I usually turn first for peace?
- How can I intentionally praise God today, even if my circumstances have not changed?
7. π Prayer
Lord, when my heart feels tired and overwhelmed, teach me to turn to You first.
Help me remember Your salvation, faithfulness, and righteous rule.
May my heart join creation in joyful praise before You.
Amen.
Scriptures
π (Psalm 98:1-9, ESV).
1 Oh sing to the LORD a new song, for he has done marvelous things! His right hand and his holy arm have worked salvation for him. 2 The LORD has made known his salvation; he has revealed his righteousness in the sight of the nations. 3 He has remembered his steadfast love and faithfulness to the house of Israel. All the ends of the earth have seen the salvation of our God.
4 Make a joyful noise to the LORD, all the earth; break forth into joyous song and sing praises! 5 Sing praises to the LORD with the lyre, with the lyre and the sound of melody! 6 With trumpets and the sound of the horn make a joyful noise before the King, the LORD!
7 Let the sea roar, and all that fills it; the world and those who dwell in it! 8 Let the rivers clap their hands; let the hills sing for joy together 9 before the LORD, for he comes to judge the earth. He will judge the world with righteousness, and the peoples with equity.
