❤️ Everything Fades But God’s Love Doesn’t | Psalm 103 Devotional (7-Step QT)
7-Step QT Notes
1. 🙏 Quiet Time
Pause.
Take a deep breath.
Ask God to help you see what truly lasts and to teach you to treasure His steadfast love above everything else.
2. 📅 April 22, 2026
Today’s passage reminds us:
Everything in this world fades, but the love and kingdom of the LORD endure forever.
3. ✝️ Psalm 103:12–22
The LORD removes our transgressions as far as the east is from the west and shows compassion to those who fear him, like a father toward his children. Though human life is brief like grass and flowers, the steadfast love and righteousness of the LORD endure forever for those who keep his covenant and obey his commandments. Because the LORD has established his throne in the heavens and rules over all, his angels, his hosts, all his works, and our own souls are called to bless him.
4. 📖 Key Verse
As for man, his days are like grass; he flourishes like a flower of the field; for the wind passes over it, and it is gone, and its place knows it no more (vv. 15-16).
5. 📝 Reflection
Social media is filled with posts that boast about the basic things of life—what people wear, eat, and own. Photos showing off luxury clothes or stylish accessories, pictures of delicious meals and beautiful dishes, and images of expensive sports cars or lavish mansions constantly appear before countless viewers. Those who display themselves in this way often become influencers or celebrities, admired by many as they proudly showcase their likes and subscriber counts. Most followers, in turn, envy them and try to imitate them.
However, today’s Scripture warns that such people flourish only for a moment like wildflowers and eventually disappear without a trace. A life without God is like grass—easily scattered and gone when the wind blows. David, after becoming king of the united kingdom of Israel, enjoyed great wealth and glory, yet he knew better than anyone how fleeting such things were. What truly mattered to him was that the love and justice of the LORD remain with God’s children from generation to generation. That is why, for David, the LORD God was not merely a sovereign ruler, but One like a father.
Beloved saints, what is it that you are holding onto so tightly and cannot let go of? Is it a promise that comes from God, or is it something empty and passing, like grass and wildflowers? Today, may you lay down all that is vain, hold fast to God’s covenant, remember His commandments, and walk in obedience.
6. 💬 What does this passage speak to you today?
- What temporary thing have I been relying on for security or significance?
- In what area of my life do I need to remember that God’s love lasts longer than my success, failure, or struggle?
- How can I obey God’s Word today instead of chasing what looks impressive to others?
7. 🙏 Prayer
Lord, help me not to build my life on what fades.
Teach me to trust in Your everlasting love and to remember Your Word.
Let my heart bless You and follow You in faithful obedience today.
Amen.
Scriptures
📖 (Psalm 103:12-22, ESV).
12 as far as the east is from the west, so far does he remove our transgressions from us. 13 As a father shows compassion to his children, so the LORD shows compassion to those who fear him. 14 For he knows our frame; he remembers that we are dust.
15 As for man, his days are like grass; he flourishes like a flower of the field; 16 for the wind passes over it, and it is gone, and its place knows it no more. 17 But the steadfast love of the LORD is from everlasting to everlasting on those who fear him, and his righteousness to children’s children, 18 to those who keep his covenant and remember to do his commandments. 19 The LORD has established his throne in the heavens, and his kingdom rules over all.
20 Bless the LORD, O you his angels, you mighty ones who do his word, obeying the voice of his word! 21 Bless the LORD, all his hosts, his ministers, who do his will! 22 Bless the LORD, all his works, in all places of his dominion. Bless the LORD, O my soul!
