3. ✝️ Joshua 15:13-19

Caleb receives Hebron as his inheritance because of his faithfulness to God. His nephew Othniel wins a battle and marries Caleb’s daughter, Achsah. Achsah, knowing the land she received is dry, boldly asks her father for springs of water. Caleb generously gives her both upper and lower springs, showing his willingness to bless her abundantly.

She said to him, “Give me a blessing. Since you have given me the land of the Negeb, give me also springs of water.” And he gave her the upper springs and the lower springs (v. 19).

5. 📝 Reflection

Family influence is powerful—and faith is no exception. Caleb’s life shows us that wholehearted devotion to God doesn’t just bless the individual; it shapes generations. From the wilderness to the promised land, Caleb remained loyal to God, and that faith left a legacy. His nephew Othniel became a courageous warrior and later a judge who brought peace to Israel for forty years. His daughter Achsah boldly asked for more blessings because she knew her father’s heart and God’s generosity.

This reminds us that your faith matters beyond you. The choices you make today—your obedience, your trust—can inspire others and open doors for God’s work in their lives. Just as Caleb’s devotion created a ripple effect, your commitment can influence friends, family, and even future generations.

Dear friends, don’t underestimate the impact of living faithfully. God honors those who seek Him wholeheartedly. And like Achsah, we are invited to come boldly to our Father, asking for what we need—not because we deserve it, but because He delights to give. So ask Him for wisdom, strength, and grace. Live in a way that points others to His goodness. Your faith can be the spark that ignites hope in someone else’s story.

📖 13 According to the commandment of the LORD to Joshua, he gave to Caleb the son of Jephunneh a portion among the people of Judah, Kiriath-arba, that is, Hebron (Arba was the father of Anak). 14 And Caleb drove out from there the three sons of Anak, Sheshai and Ahiman and Talmai, the descendants of Anak. 15 And he went up from there against the inhabitants of Debir. Now the name of Debir formerly was Kiriath-sepher. 16 And Caleb said, “Whoever strikes Kiriath-sepher and captures it, to him will I give Achsah my daughter as wife.” 17 And Othniel the son of Kenaz, the brother of Caleb, captured it. And he gave him Achsah his daughter as wife. 18 When she came to him, she urged him to ask her father for a field. And she got off her donkey, and Caleb said to her, “What do you want?” 19 She said to him, “Give me a blessing.
