What’s Your Scarlet Cord? πŸŸ₯ Where Is It? | Joshua 2 Devotional (7-Step QT)

7-Step QT Notes

1. πŸ™ Quiet Time

Pause.
Take a deep breath.
Ask God to help you boldly display the sign of salvation in your life.

2. πŸ“… November 13, 2025

Today’s passage reminds us:
Faith is not just internal—it’s something we display with courage and hope.

3. ✝️ Joshua 2:15-24

After helping the spies escape through her window, Rahab immediately tied the scarlet cord as promised. The spies fled to the hills, leaving behind their vow to save her and her family. Three days later, they returned and reported everything to Joshua. They were confident that the Lord had already given them the land.

4. πŸ“– Key Verse

“And she tied the scarlet cord in the window.” (v. 21b)

5. πŸ“ Reflection

Rahab didn’t wait to obey. She tied the scarlet cord right away, even though salvation wouldn’t come for weeks. That cord was a public sign of her faith—a bold declaration that she trusted in the God of Israel.

Imagine the questions she might have faced. “What’s that cord for?” “Why are you doing this?” But Rahab didn’t hide it. She displayed it openly, even if others didn’t understand.

What about you? Where is your “scarlet cord”? Is your faith visible to others? Or is it hidden, tucked away until it feels safe to share?

Faith isn’t just personal—it’s public. The world may not understand it, but your boldness might be the very thing that points someone to salvation.

6. πŸ’¬ What does this passage speak to you today?

  • What is the “scarlet cord” in my life that shows I trust in God?
  • Am I willing to display my faith publicly, even when others don’t understand?
  • How can I be more intentional about showing the hope I have in Christ?

7. πŸ™ Prayer

Lord, help me to be bold like Rahab.
Let my life be a visible sign of Your salvation.
Give me courage to live out my faith, even when it’s misunderstood.
May others see You through me.
Amen.

Scriptures

πŸ“– 15 Then she let them down by a rope through the window, for her house was built into the city wall, so that she lived in the wall. 16 And she said to them, “Go into the hills, or the pursuers will encounter you, and hide there three days until the pursuers have returned. Then afterward you may go your way.” 17 The men said to her, “We will be guiltless with respect to this oath of yours that you have made us swear. 18 Behold, when we come into the land, you shall tie this scarlet cord in the window through which you let us down, and you shall gather into your house your father and mother, your brothers, and all your father’s household. 19 Then if anyone goes out of the doors of your house into the street, his blood shall be on his own head, and we shall be guiltless. But if a hand is laid on anyone who is with you in the house, his blood shall be on our head. 20 But if you tell this business of ours, then we shall be guiltless with respect to your oath that you have made us swear.” 21 And she said, “According to your words, so be it.” Then she sent them away, and they departed. And she tied the scarlet cord in the window.

22 They departed and went into the hills and remained there three days until the pursuers returned, and the pursuers searched all along the way and found nothing. 23 Then the two men returned. They came down from the hills and passed over and came to Joshua the son of Nun, and they told him all that had happened to them. 24 And they said to Joshua, “Truly the LORD has given all the land into our hands. And also, all the inhabitants of the land melt away because of us.” (Joshua 2:15-24, ESV).
