  4. πŸ“– You are aware that all who are in Asia turned away from me, among whom are Phygelus and Hermogenes (v. 15).

  5. πŸ“ Paul was abandoned in prison, likely out of fear—just as Jesus was by His disciples. Yet Paul declares he is not ashamed, because he trusts God to guard his life and calling. This passage challenges us to live boldly, unashamed of our faith, knowing God will never leave us.

7-Step QT Notes

1. πŸ™ Quiet Time

Pause.
Take a deep breath.
Ask God to give you courage to stand firm in faith—even when it’s hard or lonely.

2. πŸ“… November 2, 2025

Today’s passage reminds us:
Faithfulness may cost us—but God will never abandon us.

3. ✝️ 2 Timothy 1:9-18

Paul, imprisoned for the gospel, shares how many abandoned him—including close companions. Yet he holds onto his trust in God, declaring in verse 12 that he knows whom he has believed and is convinced God will guard what he’s entrusted. Faithfulness isn’t always popular, but it’s always worth it.

4. πŸ“– Key Verse

You are aware that all who are in Asia turned away from me, among whom are Phygelus and Hermogenes (v. 15).

5. πŸ“ Reflection

It’s painful when people walk away—especially when you need them most. Paul knew that pain. So did Jesus, when His disciples fled.

Why do people abandon others in hard times? Often, it’s fear.
But Paul’s response is powerful: “I am not ashamed.” He trusts God to guard his life and calling.

Are you afraid to be known as a Christian? Afraid to share your faith?
God hasn’t called us to be safe—He’s called us to be faithful.
And He promises to be with us, even when others aren’t.

6. πŸ’¬ What does this passage speak to you today?

  • Where am I tempted to hide my faith out of fear?
  • How can I be faithful even when others walk away?
  • What does it mean to trust God with my life and calling?

7. πŸ™ Prayer

Lord, help me stand firm in faith, even when it’s lonely.
Give me courage to live boldly for You.
Remind me that You are always with me, and You will guard what I entrust to You.
Amen.

Scriptures

πŸ“– 9 who saved us and called us to a holy calling, not because of our works but because of his own purpose and grace, which he gave us in Christ Jesus before the ages began, 10 and which now has been manifested through the appearing of our Savior Christ Jesus, who abolished death and brought life and immortality to light through the gospel, 11 for which I was appointed a preacher and apostle and teacher, 12 which is why I suffer as I do. But I am not ashamed, for I know whom I have believed, and I am convinced that he is able to guard until that day what has been entrusted to me. 13 Follow the pattern of the sound words that you have heard from me, in the faith and love that are in Christ Jesus. 14 By the Holy Spirit who dwells within us, guard the good deposit entrusted to you.

15 You are aware that all who are in Asia turned away from me, among whom are Phygelus and Hermogenes. 16 May the Lord grant mercy to the household of Onesiphorus, for he often refreshed me and was not ashamed of my chains, 17 but when he arrived in Rome he searched for me earnestly and found me— 18 may the Lord grant him to find mercy from the Lord on that day!—and you well know all the service he rendered at Ephesus (2 Tim 1:9-18, ESV).
