Being Part of God’s Miracle? Holiness Comes First! π₯ | Joshua 3 Devotional (7-Step QT)
7-Step QT Notes
1. π Quiet Time
Pause.
Take a deep breath.
Ask God to prepare your heart to walk in holiness and expect His wonders.
2. π November 14, 2025
Today’s passage reminds us:
Holiness prepares us to participate in God’s miracles.
3. ✝️ Joshua 3:1-8
Joshua and the Israelites camp near the Jordan River, preparing to cross into the Promised Land. God instructs Joshua to have the priests carry the Ark of the Covenant and lead the people. Before the miracle happens, Joshua tells the people to consecrate themselves—because God will do wonders among them.
4. π Key Verse
“Consecrate yourselves, for tomorrow the LORD will do wonders among you.” (v. 5b)
5. π Reflection
Joshua reminds the people that if they want to see God move, they must first be set apart. Holiness isn’t just about avoiding sin—it’s about preparing our hearts and lives to be part of what God is doing.
In Exodus 19, consecration included washing clothes and abstaining from certain activities. It was a physical and spiritual preparation. Why? Because God is holy—and to walk with Him, we must reflect that holiness.
We often want to see miracles, breakthroughs, and answers. But are we willing to prepare ourselves for them? God doesn’t call us to be spectators—He invites us to be participants.
So today, ask yourself: Am I ready to be part of what God is doing? Am I living in a way that reflects His holiness?
6. π¬ What does this passage speak to you today?
- Am I preparing my heart to see God move?
- What areas of my life need to be consecrated today?
- Do I want to be a spectator—or a participant in God’s work?
7. π Prayer
Lord, You are holy, and You call me to be holy.
Help me to prepare my heart and life to walk with You.
Cleanse me from anything that keeps me from Your presence.
I want to be part of Your work—set me apart for Your glory.
Amen.
Scriptures
π 1 Then Joshua rose early in the morning and they set out from Shittim. And they came to the Jordan, he and all the people of Israel, and lodged there before they passed over. 2 At the end of three days the officers went through the camp 3 and commanded the people, “As soon as you see the ark of the covenant of the LORD your God being carried by the Levitical priests, then you shall set out from your place and follow it. 4 Yet there shall be a distance between you and it, about 2,000 cubits in length. Do not come near it, in order that you may know the way you shall go, for you have not passed this way before.” 5 Then Joshua said to the people, “Consecrate yourselves, for tomorrow the LORD will do wonders among you.” 6 And Joshua said to the priests, “Take up the ark of the covenant and pass on before the people.” So they took up the ark of the covenant and went before the people. 7 The LORD said to Joshua, “Today I will begin to exalt you in the sight of all Israel, that they may know that, as I was with Moses, so I will be with you. 8 And as for you, command the priests who bear the ark of the covenant, ‘When you come to the brink of the waters of the Jordan, you shall stand still in the Jordan.’ ” (Joshua 3:1-8, ESV).
