  3. ✝️ Zechariah 5:1-11

  4. πŸ“– “Where are they taking the basket?” … “To the land of Shinar… they will set the basket down there on its base.” (v. 10–11)

  5. πŸ“ God grieved over humanity’s evil and cleansed the earth through the flood. Yet rebellion returned in Shinar. In Zechariah’s vision, God seals wickedness and returns to Shinar. There, evil will be removed. Don’t cling to what God wants to take. Let go of sin and return to His eternal love.

7-Step QT Notes

1. πŸ™ Quiet Time

Pause.
Take a deep breath.
Ask God to help you recognize and remove anything in your life that dishonors Him.

2. πŸ“… October 18, 2025

Today’s passage reminds us:
God will remove evil—don’t hold on to what He wants to take away.

3. ✝️ Zechariah 5:1–11

In Zechariah’s seventh vision, a woman representing wickedness is sealed inside a basket and sent to Shinar—a place historically tied to rebellion (like the Tower of Babel). God is showing that evil will be removed and judged. It won’t stay among His people.

4. πŸ“– Key Verse

“Where are they taking the basket?” ... “To the land of Shinar… they will set the basket down there on its base.” (v. 10–11)

5. πŸ“ Reflection

We live in a world that often normalizes sin—greed, pride, dishonesty. Society teaches us to tolerate or even celebrate what God calls evil. But God sees it all, and He is committed to removing wickedness from our lives and our world.

This vision reminds us that God doesn’t ignore sin. He deals with it. Not to shame us, but to restore us. Just like He removed evil to Shinar, He wants to remove anything in us that pulls us away from Him.

So, what’s in your “basket”? Is there something God is asking you to let go of—an attitude, habit, or relationship that’s not honoring Him? Don’t wait. God’s love is too great to leave you stuck in what He’s already judged.

6. πŸ’¬ What does this passage speak to you today?

  • What “wickedness” might God be revealing in my life today?
  • Am I holding on to something He wants to remove?
  • What step can I take to walk away from sin and toward God’s love?

7. πŸ™ Prayer

Lord, I don’t want to hold on to anything that dishonors You.
Reveal what needs to go, and give me courage to let it go.
Cleanse my heart and lead me into Your truth.
Thank You for loving me enough to remove what harms me.
Amen.

Scriptures

πŸ“– 1 Again I lifted my eyes and saw, and behold, a flying scroll! 2 And he said to me, “What do you see?” I answered, “I see a flying scroll. Its length is twenty cubits, and its width ten cubits.” 3 Then he said to me, “This is the curse that goes out over the face of the whole land. For everyone who steals shall be cleaned out according to what is on one side, and everyone who swears falsely shall be cleaned out according to what is on the other side. 4 I will send it out, declares the LORD of hosts, and it shall enter the house of the thief, and the house of him who swears falsely by my name. And it shall remain in his house and consume it, both timber and stones.”

5 Then the angel who talked with me came forward and said to me, “Lift your eyes and see what this is that is going out.” 6 And I said, “What is it?” He said, “This is the basket that is going out.” And he said, “This is their iniquity in all the land.” 7 And behold, the leaden cover was lifted, and there was a woman sitting in the basket! 8 And he said, “This is Wickedness.” And he thrust her back into the basket, and thrust down the leaden weight on its opening. 9 Then I lifted my eyes and saw, and behold, two women coming forward! The wind was in their wings. They had wings like the wings of a stork, and they lifted up the basket between earth and heaven. 10 Then I said to the angel who talked with me, “Where are they taking the basket?” 11 He said to me, “To the land of Shinar, to build a house for it. And when this is prepared, they will set the basket down there on its base.” (Zech 5:1-11, ESV).
