Ezekiel 12 Devotional: Trusting God’s Word When It Feels Delayed

Trusting God’s Word When It Feels Delayed

7-Step QT

  2. πŸ“… August 4, 2025

  3. ✝️ Ezekiel 12:17-28

  4. πŸ“– For I am the LORD; I will speak the word that I will speak, and it will be performed. It will no longer be delayed, but in your days, O rebellious house, I will speak the word and perform it, declares the Lord GOD.” (v. 25)

  5. πŸ“ God’s judgment may not come instantly, but it will come. Evil isn’t justified by delay, and we’re called to stand apart from it. Ezekiel challenges us to choose: rebellion or obedience. In a world that doubts God’s timing, faith means trusting His Word and living as His faithful children.

7-Step QT Notes

1. πŸ™ Quiet Time

Pause.
Take a deep breath.
Ask God to help you trust His Word—even when it seems delayed or distant.

2. πŸ“… August 4, 2025

Today’s passage reminds us that God’s promises and warnings are never empty.
His Word may seem delayed, but it will be fulfilled—in His perfect timing.

3. ✝️ Ezekiel 12:17–28

God confronts a common lie among the people:
“The vision he sees is for many years from now…” (v. 27)
They believed judgment wouldn’t come anytime soon.

But God responds clearly:
“I will speak the word… and it will be performed. It will no longer be delayed.” (v. 25)
God’s Word is not vague or optional.
It’s living, active, and certain.

4. πŸ“– Key Verse

“I will speak the word that I will speak, and it will be performed. It will no longer be delayed…” (v. 25)

5. πŸ“ Reflection

We live in a world that often doubts God’s timing.
When evil seems to go unpunished, or prayers feel unanswered, it’s easy to wonder:
“Is God really working?”

But Ezekiel reminds us:
God is not slow—He is precise.
His Word will come to pass.
Our role is to trust and obey, not to question His schedule.

πŸ’‘ Application Point:

  • Are you waiting on something God has promised?
  • Have you grown discouraged because you haven’t seen results yet?
  • Don’t confuse delay with denial.God’s Word will be fulfilled.Stay faithful.

6. πŸ’¬ What does this passage speak to you today?

  • What promises of God are you holding onto right now?
  • How can you live today as if His Word is already being fulfilled?

7. πŸ™ Prayer

God, help me trust Your Word even when I don’t see it yet.
Let me not grow weary or cynical.
You are faithful, and Your timing is perfect.
I choose to believe that what You’ve spoken will come to pass.
Strengthen my faith today. Amen.

Scriptures

πŸ“– 17 And the word of the LORD came to me: 18 “Son of man, eat your bread with quaking, and drink water with trembling and with anxiety. 19 And say to the people of the land, Thus says the Lord GOD concerning the inhabitants of Jerusalem in the land of Israel: They shall eat their bread with anxiety, and drink water in dismay. In this way her land will be stripped of all it contains, on account of the violence of all those who dwell in it. 20 And the inhabited cities shall be laid waste, and the land shall become a desolation; and you shall know that I am the LORD.”
21 And the word of the LORD came to me: 22 “Son of man, what is this proverb that you have about the land of Israel, saying, ‘The days grow long, and every vision comes to nothing’? 23 Tell them therefore, ‘Thus says the Lord GOD: I will put an end to this proverb, and they shall no more use it as a proverb in Israel.’ But say to them, The days are near, and the fulfillment of every vision. 24 For there shall be no more any false vision or flattering divination within the house of Israel. 25 For I am the LORD; I will speak the word that I will speak, and it will be performed. It will no longer be delayed, but in your days, O rebellious house, I will speak the word and perform it, declares the Lord GOD.”
26 And the word of the LORD came to me: 27 “Son of man, behold, they of the house of Israel say, ‘The vision that he sees is for many days from now, and he prophesies of times far off.’ 28 Therefore say to them, Thus says the Lord GOD: None of my words will be delayed any longer, but the word that I speak will be performed, declares the Lord GOD” (Ezek 12:17-28, ESV).
