  3. ✝️ 1 Timothy 3:1-13
  4. πŸ“– … a noble task … a good standing … great confidence in the faith … (vv. 1, 13).
  5. πŸ“ Church leadership is more than a title—it’s a calling to serve with integrity. Paul reminds us that these roles reflect God’s standards, not just human qualifications. Even without a formal position, every believer is invited to pursue good works, spiritual growth, and confidence in the faith as part of Christ’s body.

7-Step QT Notes

1. πŸ™ Quiet Time

Pause.

Take a deep breath.

God is not just calling leaders—He’s shaping all of us to reflect His character.

2. πŸ“… July 11, 2025

Today is a reminder that spiritual maturity isn’t just for pastors or elders.

It’s for anyone who wants to live a life that honors God and blesses others.

3. ✝️ 1 Timothy 3:1–13

Paul outlines the qualities of church leaders—overseers and deacons.

But these aren’t just job descriptions.

They’re a picture of what a faithful, Christ-centered life looks like:

  • Self-controlled
  • Respectable
  • Hospitable
  • Gentle
  • Faithful in relationships
  • Spiritually mature

These qualities aren’t about perfection—they’re about direction.

4. πŸ“– Key Phrases

“…a noble task…a good standing…great confidence in the faith…” (vv. 1, 13)

5. πŸ“ Reflection

Church leadership is a noble calling—but it’s not reserved for the “elite.”

Paul’s list isn’t just for leaders—it’s for all believers who want to grow in Christ.

πŸ’‘ Think about this:

  • What kind of person are you becoming?
  • Are you growing in integrity, humility, and love?
  • Would others see Jesus in the way you live, speak, and serve?

Even if you’re not in a formal role, you’re still called to live a life that reflects the gospel.

And as you do, you’ll gain something far greater than a title:

a good standing and great confidence in the faith.

6. πŸ’¬ What does this passage speak to you today?

  • Which of the qualities in this passage do you want to grow in?
  • How can you live with “noble purpose” even without a leadership title?
  • What does spiritual maturity look like in your current season?

“God, help me grow in character, not just in knowledge. Shape me into someone who reflects Your heart—whether I lead or follow. Give me confidence in the faith as I walk with You daily.”

Scriptures

πŸ“– 1 The saying is trustworthy: If anyone aspires to the office of overseer, he desires a noble task. 2 Therefore an overseer must be above reproach, the husband of one wife, sober-minded, self-controlled, respectable, hospitable, able to teach, 3 not a drunkard, not violent but gentle, not quarrelsome, not a lover of money. 4 He must manage his own household well, with all dignity keeping his children submissive, 5 for if someone does not know how to manage his own household, how will he care for God’s church? 6 He must not be a recent convert, or he may become puffed up with conceit and fall into the condemnation of the devil. 7 Moreover, he must be well thought of by outsiders, so that he may not fall into disgrace, into a snare of the devil.

8 Deacons likewise must be dignified, not double-tongued, not addicted to much wine, not greedy for dishonest gain. 9 They must hold the mystery of the faith with a clear conscience. 10 And let them also be tested first; then let them serve as deacons if they prove themselves blameless. 11 Their wives likewise must be dignified, not slanderers, but sober-minded, faithful in all things. 12 Let deacons each be the husband of one wife, managing their children and their own households well. 13 For those who serve well as deacons gain a good standing for themselves and also great confidence in the faith that is in Christ Jesus (1 Tim 3:1-13, ESV).
