This psalm is a love song for God’s presence.

The writer longs to be near God—not because life is perfect, but because God is better than anything else.

He says:

“Better is one day in your courts than a thousand elsewhere.” (v.10)

And ends with this powerful truth:

“O LORD of hosts, blessed is the one who trusts in you.” (v.12)

Imagine you're on a long road trip. You're tired, your GPS rerouted again, and you're not sure if you're even going the right way. That’s life for many of us in our 20s and 30s—figuring out careers, relationships, identity, and purpose.

Psalm 84 is like a deep breath in the middle of that journey. The writer isn’t just talking about a physical temple—he’s longing for God’s presence like someone homesick for a place they’ve never fully known.

Here’s what this Psalm tells us about the person who trusts in God:

• They long for God like a traveler longs for home (v.1-2).
• They find strength in Him, even when life feels like a desert (v.5-7).
• They’d rather be a doorkeeper in God’s house than live large without Him (v.10).
• They are blessed, not because life is easy, but because God is with them (v.12).

💡 Notice this:

The blessing isn’t the reward for trusting God.

Trusting God is the blessing.

Because when you trust Him, you’re never alone. You’re on the road to Zion—even if it feels like a valley.

10 For a day in your courts is better than a thousand elsewhere.
