7-Step QT Notes

1. πŸ™ Quiet Time

Pause.

Take a deep breath.

Ask God to help you take refuge under His wings and walk faithfully in His righteousness today.

2. πŸ“… May 4, 2026

Today’s passage reminds us:

When we take refuge under God’s wings and walk in faithfulness, God sees, protects, and graciously provides.

3. ✝️ Ruth 2:8-16

Boaz kindly tells Ruth to stay in his field, work near his young women, and drink freely from the water prepared by his workers. When Ruth asks why she has found favor as a foreigner, Boaz blesses her for her faithfulness to Naomi and for taking refuge under the wings of the LORD, the God of Israel. Boaz then provides food for Ruth and instructs his workers to let her glean generously and without shame.

4. πŸ“– Key Verse

”The LORD repay you for what you have done, and a full reward be given you by the LORD, the God of Israel, under whose wings you have come to take refuge!” (v. 12)

5. πŸ“ Reflection

The Thai telecommunications company TrueMove H once released a commercial called “Giving.” In the advertisement, a young boy is caught by a pharmacy owner while stealing painkillers for his sick mother. At that moment, a man who runs a noodle shop nearby takes pity on the boy and pays for the medicine on his behalf. He also tells his daughter to give the boy a bag of warm vegetable soup.

Thirty years later, the noodle shop owner suddenly collapses and is admitted to the hospital. His daughter faces a desperate situation, wondering whether she may have to sell the shop because of the overwhelming hospital bill. But one day, when she opens the bill, she sees that the total amount due is zero. Beside it, these words are written:

“All expenses were paid 30 years ago with three packs of painkillers and one bag of vegetable soup.”

It turns out that the boy who had received help 30 years earlier had grown up to become a doctor. Remembering the man who had shown him kindness, he paid the hospital bill on his behalf. A small act of kindness had not disappeared. It was a moving advertisement showing how grace given long ago can return as grace after many years.

Even small acts of kindness done by people sometimes return in surprising ways after time has passed. When we hear stories like this, we naturally nod in agreement. Then what happens when we do what is righteous and take refuge under the wings of the LORD God?

Ruth, a foreign woman, was someone who came to take refuge under the wings of the LORD God. She also worked diligently in the fields of a foreign land in order to provide for her mother-in-law, Naomi. Through the hands of Boaz, God showed her grace. Therefore, today the Bible speaks to us through the words of Boaz. When we also take refuge under the wings of the LORD, God will protect us and richly reward our deeds.

Beloved brothers and sisters, take refuge under the wings of God. And do what is righteous according to his will. God will protect you and reward you. Even when life is hard, when the way ahead is unclear, and even in moments so painful that you feel like giving up, believe that everything is held within God’s will and providence. May you take refuge under the wings of God with that faith and live as those who practice his righteousness.

6. πŸ’¬ What does this passage speak to you today?

  • Where do I feel uncertain, vulnerable, or unseen right now?
  • Am I taking refuge under God’s wings, or am I trying to handle life on my own?
  • What is one faithful and righteous step God is calling me to take today?
  • How can I become an instrument of God’s kindness to someone else this week?

7. πŸ™ Prayer

Lord, I come to take refuge under Your wings.

When life feels uncertain and I do not know what comes next, help me trust that You see me, protect me, and guide me.

Teach me to walk in righteousness, even in ordinary and difficult places.

Use my life to show Your kindness to others.

May I not give up, but continue to trust You and do what is right before You.

Amen.

Scriptures

πŸ“– (Ruth 2:8-16, ESV).

8 Then Boaz said to Ruth, “Now, listen, my daughter, do not go to glean in another field or leave this one, but keep close to my young women. 9 Let your eyes be on the field that they are reaping, and go after them. Have I not charged the young men not to touch you? And when you are thirsty, go to the vessels and drink what the young men have drawn.” 10 Then she fell on her face, bowing to the ground, and said to him, “Why have I found favor in your eyes, that you should take notice of me, since I am a foreigner?” 11 But Boaz answered her, “All that you have done for your mother-in-law since the death of your husband has been fully told to me, and how you left your father and mother and your native land and came to a people that you did not know before. 12 The LORD repay you for what you have done, and a full reward be given you by the LORD, the God of Israel, under whose wings you have come to take refuge!” 13 Then she said, “I have found favor in your eyes, my lord, for you have comforted me and spoken kindly to your servant, though I am not one of your servants.” 14 And at mealtime Boaz said to her, “Come here and eat some bread and dip your morsel in the wine.” So she sat beside the reapers, and he passed to her roasted grain. And she ate until she was satisfied, and she had some left over. 15 When she rose to glean, Boaz instructed his young men, saying, “Let her glean even among the sheaves, and do not reproach her. 16 And also pull out some from the bundles for her and leave it for her to glean, and do not rebuke her.”
