Jesus Sends You With Power ⚡ | Matthew 10 Devotional (7-Step QT)

7-Step QT Notes

1. πŸ™ Quiet Time

Pause.
Take a deep breath.
Ask Jesus to show you what it really means to follow Him in your everyday life.

2. πŸ“… February 4, 2026

Today’s passage reminds us:
Jesus never calls us without also empowering us.

3. ✝️ Matthew 10:1-15

Jesus calls His twelve disciples and gives them authority to cast out unclean spirits and heal every disease. He sends them to the lost sheep of Israel to proclaim that the Kingdom of Heaven is near—healing, restoring, and relying completely on God’s provision. Jesus tells them to bring peace wherever they go, but also to move on when rejected, warning that those who refuse the message will face serious judgment.

4. πŸ“– Key Verse

And he called to him his twelve disciples and gave them authority over unclean spirits, to cast them out, and to heal every disease and every affliction (v. 1).

5. πŸ“ Reflection

Becoming a disciple of Jesus in this world has nothing to do with earthly wealth or glory. Instead, it means entering through the narrow gate and walking the narrow path. On that path, the evil powers of this world and the power of death continually seek to block and hinder the disciples. For this reason, Jesus never sent His disciples unprepared. He called them, commanded them to proclaim that the Kingdom of Heaven is near, and at the same time gave them authority to cast out unclean spirits and to heal every disease and weakness. Without such divine authority, sharing the gospel would be exceedingly difficult.

Dear brothers and sisters, we must not stop at simply attending church and becoming God’s children—we are called to become disciples of Jesus. And we are called to proclaim the gospel of Jesus Christ to the world. Yet this mission cannot be accomplished by our own strength or ability. As people living in this world, we cannot proclaim the message of the Kingdom of Heaven without God’s power. Therefore, let us long for His power today. And let us pray to become disciples who proclaim the gospel with His authority.

6. πŸ’¬ What does this passage speak to you today?

  • Where am I relying too much on my abilities instead of Jesus’ authority?
  • Who in my life needs the peace, compassion, or truth of Christ through me today?
  • What fear or insecurity keeps me from stepping into my calling as a disciple?

7. πŸ™ Prayer

Jesus, thank You for calling me and empowering me.
Teach me to rely on Your strength, not my own.
Give me courage to bring Your peace and Your love wherever I go today.
Make me a faithful disciple who trusts Your authority.
Amen.

Scriptures

πŸ“– 1 And he called to him his twelve disciples and gave them authority over unclean spirits, to cast them out, and to heal every disease and every affliction. 2 The names of the twelve apostles are these: first, Simon, who is called Peter, and Andrew his brother; James the son of Zebedee, and John his brother; 3 Philip and Bartholomew; Thomas and Matthew the tax collector; James the son of Alphaeus, and Thaddaeus; 4 Simon the Zealot, and Judas Iscariot, who betrayed him.

5 These twelve Jesus sent out, instructing them, “Go nowhere among the Gentiles and enter no town of the Samaritans, 6 but go rather to the lost sheep of the house of Israel. 7 And proclaim as you go, saying, ‘The kingdom of heaven is at hand.’ 8 Heal the sick, raise the dead, cleanse lepers, cast out demons. You received without paying; give without pay. 9 Acquire no gold or silver or copper for your belts, 10 no bag for your journey, or two tunics or sandals or a staff, for the laborer deserves his food. 11 And whatever town or village you enter, find out who is worthy in it and stay there until you depart. 12 As you enter the house, greet it. 13 And if the house is worthy, let your peace come upon it, but if it is not worthy, let your peace return to you. 14 And if anyone will not receive you or listen to your words, shake off the dust from your feet when you leave that house or town. 15 Truly, I say to you, it will be more bearable on the day of judgment for the land of Sodom and Gomorrah than for that town (Matthew 10:1-15, ESV).
