✝️ Romans 14:1-12
-
π For if we live, we live to the Lord, and if we die, we die to the Lord. So then, whether we live or whether we die, we are the Lord’s (v. 8).
-
π Conflicts in the church are inevitable because we’re imperfect. Paul reminds us that our identity is in Christ—we belong to Him in life and death. This truth removes judgment and fuels love. Whether strong or weak in faith, we’re one body. Our calling is simple: stop condemning, start loving.

7-Step QT Notes
1. π Quiet Time
Pause.
Take a deep breath.
Ask God to give you a humble heart that loves others instead of judging them.
2. π October 6, 2025
Today’s passage reminds us: Stop judging. Start loving. We all belong to the Lord.
3. ✝️ Romans 14:1–12
Paul addresses conflicts in the church over opinions—like food laws and special days. His point? Don’t despise or judge each other. Why? Because whether we live or die, we belong to the Lord. He alone is Judge. Our role is not to condemn but to love and build up.
4. π Key Verse
“For if we live, we live to the Lord, and if we die, we die to the Lord. So then, whether we live or whether we die, we are the Lord’s.” (v.8)
5. π Reflection
Church conflicts aren’t new—Paul saw them too. People judged each other over food and traditions. His solution? Remember your identity: you belong to the Lord. Life and death are His. When that truth sinks in, judgment fades and love grows.
Instead of criticizing someone’s choices, ask: “How can I build them up?” Whether strong or weak in faith, we’re one family in Christ. Our calling isn’t to control or condemn—it’s to love.
6. π¬ What does this passage speak to you today?
- Do I tend to judge others for their convictions or lifestyle?
- How does remembering “I belong to the Lord” change my attitude?
- What’s one way I can show grace instead of criticism this week?
7. π Prayer
Lord, remind me that I belong to You—and so do my brothers and sisters.
Help me stop judging and start loving.
Teach me to build others up for Your glory.
Amen.
Scriptures
π 1 As for the one who is weak in faith, welcome him, but not to quarrel over opinions. 2 One person believes he may eat anything, while the weak person eats only vegetables. 3 Let not the one who eats despise the one who abstains, and let not the one who abstains pass judgment on the one who eats, for God has welcomed him. 4 Who are you to pass judgment on the servant of another? It is before his own master that he stands or falls. And he will be upheld, for the Lord is able to make him stand.
5 One person esteems one day as better than another, while another esteems all days alike. Each one should be fully convinced in his own mind. 6 The one who observes the day, observes it in honor of the Lord. The one who eats, eats in honor of the Lord, since he gives thanks to God, while the one who abstains, abstains in honor of the Lord and gives thanks to God. 7 For none of us lives to himself, and none of us dies to himself. 8 For if we live, we live to the Lord, and if we die, we die to the Lord. So then, whether we live or whether we die, we are the Lord’s. 9 For to this end Christ died and lived again, that he might be Lord both of the dead and of the living.
10 Why do you pass judgment on your brother? Or you, why do you despise your brother? For we will all stand before the judgment seat of God; 11 for it is written,
“As I live, says the Lord, every knee shall bow to me, and every tongue shall confess to God.”
12 So then each of us will give an account of himself to God (Rom 14:1-12, ESV).
