πŸ‘‘ Are You Ready for Jesus’ Return? | Matthew 25 Devotional (7-Step QT)

7-Step QT Notes

1. πŸ™ Quiet Time

Pause.

Take a deep breath.

Ask God to help you see people the way He sees them and to shape your heart with His compassion.

2. πŸ“… March 24, 2026

Today’s passage reminds us:

True faith is revealed through mercy, and the final judgment is real.

3. ✝️ Matthew 25:31-46

When Jesus returns in glory, he will gather all nations and separate the righteous from the wicked, like a shepherd separates sheep from goats. The righteous will inherit eternal life because their mercy toward the least revealed their service to Christ. The wicked, who neglected those in need, will face eternal punishment because in failing them, they failed Christ.

4. πŸ“– Key Verse

“And these will go away into eternal punishment, but the righteous into eternal life” (v. 46).

5. πŸ“ Reflection

The Sistine Chapel in the Vatican is famous for its frescoes created by Renaissance artists such as Michelangelo, Raphael, and Sandro Botticelli. In particular, Michelangelo’s ceiling paintings are widely known for depicting scenes from Genesis. However, The Last Judgment, which Michelangelo painted on the altar wall of the chapel a full twenty-four years after completing the ceiling, is relatively less well known. Perhaps this is because the word “judgment” carries a negative image.

In The Last Judgment, the scenes of Christ’s second coming, resurrection, and judgment are vividly contrasted, all centered on Jesus Christ. The expressions of the saints rejoicing in resurrection and the sinners despairing before judgment create a striking contrast. Among them, one especially famous figure, The Damned One, powerfully conveys how dreadful and hopeless this judgment is. As demons surround him and drag him down into hell, he covers one side of his face, including his left eye, with his left hand, expressing utter despair before a reality he cannot bear to accept. At the same time, his wide-open right eye reveals the terror of realizing that he has fallen into eternal destruction.

Beloved saints, today Jesus tells us that there will surely be a judgment on the last day: the righteous will enter eternal life, and the wicked will enter eternal punishment. And just as Jesus said, this will certainly come to pass. Therefore, we must never stand in the position of The Damned One. I earnestly pray that today you will repent before God and choose the path of righteousness.

6. πŸ’¬ What does this passage speak to you today?

  • Who are “the least of these” around me right now?
  • Where have I become too busy or distracted to notice people in need?
  • How can I show the love of Christ in one practical way today?

7. πŸ™ Prayer

Lord, open my eyes to see the people around me with compassion.

Give me a heart that reflects Your mercy in practical ways.

Help me live each day in true faith, ready for the return of Christ.

Amen.

Scriptures

πŸ“– (Matthew 25:31-46, ESV).

31 “When the Son of Man comes in his glory, and all the angels with him, then he will sit on his glorious throne. 32 Before him will be gathered all the nations, and he will separate people one from another as a shepherd separates the sheep from the goats. 33 And he will place the sheep on his right, but the goats on the left. 34 Then the King will say to those on his right, ‘Come, you who are blessed by my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world. 35 For I was hungry and you gave me food, I was thirsty and you gave me drink, I was a stranger and you welcomed me, 36 I was naked and you clothed me, I was sick and you visited me, I was in prison and you came to me.’ 37 Then the righteous will answer him, saying, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you drink? 38 And when did we see you a stranger and welcome you, or naked and clothe you? 39 And when did we see you sick or in prison and visit you?’ 40 And the King will answer them, ‘Truly, I say to you, as you did it to one of the least of these my brothers, you did it to me.’ 41 “Then he will say to those on his left, ‘Depart from me, you cursed, into the eternal fire prepared for the devil and his angels. 42 For I was hungry and you gave me no food, I was thirsty and you gave me no drink, 43 I was a stranger and you did not welcome me, naked and you did not clothe me, sick and in prison and you did not visit me.’ 44 Then they also will answer, saying, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry or thirsty or a stranger or naked or sick or in prison, and did not minister to you?’ 45 Then he will answer them, saying, ‘Truly, I say to you, as you did not do it to one of the least of these, you did not do it to me.’ 46 And these will go away into eternal punishment, but the righteous into eternal life.”
