Stand with Jesus in a Skeptical World ✝️ | Matthew 12 Devotional (7-Step QT)

7-Step QT Notes

1. πŸ™ Quiet Time

Pause.

Take a deep breath.

Ask the Holy Spirit to show you who Jesus really is and what’s going on in your heart today.

2. πŸ“… February 10, 2026

Today’s passage reminds us:

God’s kingdom is here, so we must stand with Jesus and let our words reveal a heart that belongs to Him.

3. ✝️ Matthew 12:22–37

Jesus heals a demon-oppressed man who was blind and mute, leading the crowd to wonder if He is the Son of David, while the Pharisees accuse Him of casting out demons by Beelzebul. Jesus explains that Satan cannot be divided against himself, declares that His casting out demons by the Spirit of God proves the kingdom of God has come, and warns about the unforgivable sin of blaspheming the Holy Spirit. He then teaches that trees are known by their fruit and that our words reveal our hearts, insisting that on the day of judgment people will be justified or condemned by their words.

4. πŸ“– Key Verse

”But if it is by the Spirit of God that I cast out demons, then the kingdom of God has come upon you” (v. 28).

5. πŸ“ Reflection

Generally, when we hear the word “miracle,” we think of a supernatural event that our reason cannot fully understand, or a phenomenon that cannot be tested or reproduced by science or experiments. For this reason, even when people witness and experience the very same miracle, if they do not believe in God, the One who works the miracle, they end up rejecting it or responding with doubt. Scripture clearly shows us this same pattern.

In today’s passage, Jesus heals a man who was demon-possessed, blind, and mute. Those who believed in and followed Jesus saw this miracle and praised God. But those who did not believe and instead doubted Him accused Jesus of driving out demons by the power of Satan. Jesus firmly declares to these unbelievers that His miracles are done by the power of the Holy Spirit, and that refusing to believe in and blaspheming the Spirit is a sin that will not be forgiven. He also teaches that, because the kingdom of God has already come into this world through Him, demons have no choice but to flee, and the miracles He performs are clear evidence of the Spirit’s power.

Dear brothers and sisters, do you believe in miracles? If so, that is good. But there is something even more important than believing in miracles themselves. It is to believe in God, the One who performs the miracles. Miracles are given not to satisfy people, but to glorify God. So today, may you hold on to this truth and become those “who are blessed because they have not seen and yet have believed.” (cf. John 20:29)

6. πŸ’¬ What does this passage speak to you today?

  • When you see God’s work (change, healing, answered prayer), do you tend to respond with faith or with skepticism? Why?
  • What do your recent words—texts, DMs, conversations—reveal about what is filling your heart?
  • What is one practical way you can invite the Holy Spirit to reshape your heart and your words today?

7. πŸ™ Prayer

Jesus, thank You that Your kingdom has come near and that You are stronger than anything that holds me. Forgive me for explaining away Your work or staying neutral instead of standing with You.

Holy Spirit, soften my heart. Change what is stored inside me so that my words reflect Your truth, love, and life.

May my heart and my speech show that I belong to Your kingdom.

Amen.

Scriptures

πŸ“– 22 Then a demon-oppressed man who was blind and mute was brought to him, and he healed him, so that the man spoke and saw. 23 And all the people were amazed, and said, “Can this be the Son of David?” 24 But when the Pharisees heard it, they said, “It is only by Beelzebul, the prince of demons, that this man casts out demons.” 25 Knowing their thoughts, he said to them, “Every kingdom divided against itself is laid waste, and no city or house divided against itself will stand. 26 And if Satan casts out Satan, he is divided against himself. How then will his kingdom stand? 27 And if I cast out demons by Beelzebul, by whom do your sons cast them out? Therefore they will be your judges. 28 But if it is by the Spirit of God that I cast out demons, then the kingdom of God has come upon you. 29 Or how can someone enter a strong man’s house and plunder his goods, unless he first binds the strong man? Then indeed he may plunder his house. 30 Whoever is not with me is against me, and whoever does not gather with me scatters. 31 Therefore I tell you, every sin and blasphemy will be forgiven people, but the blasphemy against the Spirit will not be forgiven. 32 And whoever speaks a word against the Son of Man will be forgiven, but whoever speaks against the Holy Spirit will not be forgiven, either in this age or in the age to come.

33 “Either make the tree good and its fruit good, or make the tree bad and its fruit bad, for the tree is known by its fruit. 34 You brood of vipers! How can you speak good, when you are evil? For out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks. 35 The good person out of his good treasure brings forth good, and the evil person out of his evil treasure brings forth evil. 36 I tell you, on the day of judgment people will give account for every careless word they speak, 37 for by your words you will be justified, and by your words you will be condemned.” (Matthew 12:22-37, ESV).
