Jesus Still Heals: His Willingness, Compassion, and Our Faith ✨ | Matthew 8 Devotional (7-Step QT)
7-Step QT Notes
1. π Quiet Time
Pause.
Take a slow breath.
Ask Jesus to help you see His heart—not just His power, but His willingness, compassion, and faithfulness toward you.
2. π January 29, 2026
Today’s passage reminds us:
Jesus doesn’t just heal. He wants to heal, He comes to heal, and He invites us to trust Him as He heals.
3. ✝️ Matthew 8:1-13
Jesus heals a leper who approaches Him in faith, declaring, “I will; be clean,” and immediately the man is cleansed. In Capernaum, a centurion expresses deep trust in Jesus’ authority, believing that His word alone can heal his servant, and Jesus marvels at his great faith. Jesus proclaims that many with such faith will enter the kingdom, and He heals the servant at that very moment according to the centurion’s belief.
4. π Key Verse
“I will; be clean.”
“I will come and heal him.”
“Go; let it be done for you as you have believed.” (vv. 3, 7, 13)
5. π Reflection
When we carefully examine the healing ministry of Jesus recorded in Scripture, we discover several profound truths. Today’s passage reveals three of them.
First, Jesus desires our healing. When we cry out to Him in our suffering, the God who hears our prayers genuinely wants us to be restored. Therefore, praying for healing aligns with God’s will.
Second, Jesus heals with intentional and personal compassion. He did not agree to visit the centurion’s home because the man held authority. Rather, He was moved by compassion for the servant who was suffering terribly. This same compassionate heart applies to us today—when we pray, Jesus comes near, listens, and responds.
Third, Jesus calls us to faith. He does not desire a half-hearted attitude such as “If He heals me, great; if not, that’s fine.” Instead, He invites us to pray with firm confidence that God is able to do what He wills. Astonishingly, this trust-filled faith is our responsibility to embrace.
Beloved brothers and sisters, although we live in an age where medical advancements have overcome many deadly diseases, this does not mean Jesus’ healing ministry has diminished. Miracles of healing still occur around the world and even in our own lives. And the three truths we reflected on today remain fully valid.
May you stay awake and rooted in these truths, for there will surely come a time in your faith journey when you will need them.

Scriptures
π 1 When he came down from the mountain, great crowds followed him. 2 And behold, a leper came to him and knelt before him, saying, “Lord, if you will, you can make me clean.” 3 And Jesus stretched out his hand and touched him, saying, “I will; be clean.” And immediately his leprosy was cleansed. 4 And Jesus said to him, “See that you say nothing to anyone, but go, show yourself to the priest and offer the gift that Moses commanded, for a proof to them.”
5 When he had entered Capernaum, a centurion came forward to him, appealing to him, 6 “Lord, my servant is lying paralyzed at home, suffering terribly.” 7 And he said to him, “I will come and heal him.” 8 But the centurion replied, “Lord, I am not worthy to have you come under my roof, but only say the word, and my servant will be healed. 9 For I too am a man under authority, with soldiers under me. And I say to one, ‘Go,’ and he goes, and to another, ‘Come,’ and he comes, and to my servant, ‘Do this,’ and he does it.” 10 When Jesus heard this, he marveled and said to those who followed him, “Truly, I tell you, with no one in Israel have I found such faith. 11 I tell you, many will come from east and west and recline at table with Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob in the kingdom of heaven, 12 while the sons of the kingdom will be thrown into the outer darkness. In that place there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.” 13 And to the centurion Jesus said, “Go; let it be done for you as you have believed.” And the servant was healed at that very moment (Matthew 8:1-13, ESV).
