  4. πŸ“– And the angel said to those who were standing before him, “Remove the filthy garments from him.” And to him he said, “Behold, I have taken your iniquity away from you, and I will clothe you with pure vestments.” (v. 4)

  5. πŸ“ Zechariah 3:4 shows the gospel clearly: God removes our sin and clothes us in righteousness—not by our effort, but by His grace. Like Joshua, we do nothing; God does everything. Today, He invites us to repent and believe in Jesus, trusting Him to cleanse and renew us completely.

7-Step QT Notes

1. πŸ™ Quiet Time

Pause.
Take a deep breath.
Ask God to help you receive His grace and trust in the cleansing work of Jesus.

2. πŸ“… October 16, 2025

Today’s passage reminds us:
God removes our sin and clothes us in righteousness—not by our effort, but by His grace.

3. ✝️ Zechariah 3:1–10

In Zechariah’s vision, Joshua the high priest stands before God in filthy garments—symbolizing sin. But God rebukes Satan, removes Joshua’s guilt, and clothes him in pure robes. Joshua does nothing. God does everything. This is a picture of the gospel: we are forgiven and made new by grace alone.

4. πŸ“– Key Verse

“Behold, I have taken your iniquity away from you, and I will clothe you with pure vestments.” (v. 4)

5. πŸ“ Reflection

This is one of the clearest images of salvation in the Old Testament. We don’t clean ourselves up to come to God—He cleanses us.

For young adults striving to be “good enough,” this is freedom. You don’t earn forgiveness. You receive it. God removes your shame and dresses you in grace.

So today, stop trying to fix yourself. Come to Jesus. He’s already done the work.

6. πŸ’¬ What does this passage speak to you today?

  • Do I believe that God has truly forgiven me?
  • What “filthy garments” am I still trying to carry?
  • How can I live today as someone clothed in grace?

7. πŸ™ Prayer

Lord, thank You for removing my sin and clothing me in Your righteousness.
Help me stop striving and start trusting.
Let me live today as someone made new by Your grace.
Amen.

Scriptures

πŸ“– 1 Then he showed me Joshua the high priest standing before the angel of the LORD, and Satan standing at his right hand to accuse him. 2 And the LORD said to Satan, “The LORD rebuke you, O Satan! The LORD who has chosen Jerusalem rebuke you! Is not this a brand plucked from the fire?” 3 Now Joshua was standing before the angel, clothed with filthy garments. 4 And the angel said to those who were standing before him, “Remove the filthy garments from him.” And to him he said, “Behold, I have taken your iniquity away from you, and I will clothe you with pure vestments.” 5 And I said, “Let them put a clean turban on his head.” So they put a clean turban on his head and clothed him with garments. And the angel of the LORD was standing by.

6 And the angel of the LORD solemnly assured Joshua, 7 “Thus says the LORD of hosts: If you will walk in my ways and keep my charge, then you shall rule my house and have charge of my courts, and I will give you the right of access among those who are standing here. 8 Hear now, O Joshua the high priest, you and your friends who sit before you, for they are men who are a sign: behold, I will bring my servant the Branch. 9 For behold, on the stone that I have set before Joshua, on a single stone with seven eyes, I will engrave its inscription, declares the LORD of hosts, and I will remove the iniquity of this land in a single day. 10 In that day, declares the LORD of hosts, every one of you will invite his neighbor to come under his vine and under his fig tree.” (Zech 3:1-10, ESV).
