✝️ Zechariah 1:1-6
-
π Therefore say to them, Thus declares the LORD of hosts: Return to me, says the LORD of hosts, and I will return to you, says the LORD of hosts (v. 3).
-
π Zechariah means “The Lord remembers.” Unlike humans who forget their sins and recall others’ faults, God remembers all and remains good. His call to return is timeless—rooted in His goodness. Today, turn back to Him; life apart from God leads to emptiness, but life with Him brings hope.

7-Step QT Notes
1. π Quiet Time
Pause.
Take a deep breath.
Ask God to help you return fully to Him and trust His goodness.
2. π October 13, 2025
Today’s passage reminds us:
Return to God—because He never forgets His people.
3. ✝️ Zechariah 1:1–6
Zechariah’s name means “The Lord remembers.” God calls His people, recently returned from exile, to come back to Him with their hearts. His promise? “Return to me…and I will return to you.” This isn’t about empty ritual—it’s about relationship. God remembers His covenant and invites us into His goodness.
4. π Key Verse
“Return to me, says the LORD of hosts, and I will return to you.” (v. 3)
5. π Reflection
We often remember others’ mistakes more than our own, and forget their kindness while clinging to ours. That’s human nature. But God? He remembers everything—and He is always good.
This call to return isn’t just for Israel after exile; it’s for us today. In a world pulling us toward distractions, God says: Come back to Me. Why? Because life apart from Him leads to emptiness, but life with Him brings hope and joy.
What’s pulling your heart away? Success? Comfort? Busyness? God’s invitation still stands: return, and find life.
6. π¬ What does this passage speak to you today?
- Where have I drifted from God recently?
- What step can I take today to return to Him fully?
- How can I remind myself that God’s goodness never changes?
7. π Prayer
Lord, thank You for remembering me even when I wander.
Help me return to You with all my heart.
Let Your presence be my greatest joy and security.
Amen.
Scriptures
π 1 In the eighth month, in the second year of Darius, the word of the LORD came to the prophet Zechariah, the son of Berechiah, son of Iddo, saying, 2 “The LORD was very angry with your fathers. 3 Therefore say to them, Thus declares the LORD of hosts: Return to me, says the LORD of hosts, and I will return to you, says the LORD of hosts. 4 Do not be like your fathers, to whom the former prophets cried out, ‘Thus says the LORD of hosts, Return from your evil ways and from your evil deeds.’ But they did not hear or pay attention to me, declares the LORD. 5 Your fathers, where are they? And the prophets, do they live forever? 6 But my words and my statutes, which I commanded my servants the prophets, did they not overtake your fathers? So they repented and said, ‘As the LORD of hosts purposed to deal with us for our ways and deeds, so has he dealt with us.’ ” (Zech 1:1-6, ESV).
