✝️ Romans 3:21-31
-
π for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God (v. 23).
-
π Human definitions of sin vary by culture, but God’s standard never changes—His Word. Anyone who ignores His commands is a sinner. Paul affirms this truth: all have sinned and fall short of God’s glory. Our need for grace is universal, and salvation comes only through Christ, not human effort.

7-Step QT Notes
1. π Quiet Time
Pause. Take a deep breath. Ask God to help you grasp the depth of His grace and live in the freedom it brings.
2. π September 8, 2025
Today’s passage reminds us: Salvation is by grace through faith—not by works or the law.
3. ✝️ Romans 3:21–31
Paul shifts from the bad news to the good news: We can’t earn righteousness by keeping the law—but God gives it freely through Jesus Christ.
“All have sinned and fall short of the glory of God” (v.23). That’s the reality. But here’s the hope: We are “justified by His grace as a gift” (v.24).
This is the heart of the gospel: Not what we do, but what Christ has done.
4. π Key Verse
“For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.” (v.23)
5. π Reflection
The world says, “Be good enough, work harder, prove yourself.” But God says, “You can’t earn it—and you don’t have to. I’ve done it for you.”
Grace levels the playing field. No one can boast. Your worth isn’t based on performance, but on Christ’s finished work.
So stop striving for approval. Rest in grace. Live with gratitude and confidence—not guilt or fear.
6. π¬ What does this passage speak to you today?
- Do I still try to earn God’s love through performance?
- How does knowing I’m justified by grace change my identity?
- Who needs to hear about God’s grace through my words or actions this week?
7. π Prayer
God, thank You for saving me by grace through faith. Help me stop striving and start resting in Your love. Teach me to live with gratitude and share Your grace with others. Amen.
Scriptures
π 21 But now the righteousness of God has been manifested apart from the law, although the Law and the Prophets bear witness to it— 22 the righteousness of God through faith in Jesus Christ for all who believe. For there is no distinction: 23 for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, 24 and are justified by his grace as a gift, through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus, 25 whom God put forward as a propitiation by his blood, to be received by faith. This was to show God’s righteousness, because in his divine forbearance he had passed over former sins. 26 It was to show his righteousness at the present time, so that he might be just and the justifier of the one who has faith in Jesus.
27 Then what becomes of our boasting? It is excluded. By what kind of law? By a law of works? No, but by the law of faith. 28 For we hold that one is justified by faith apart from works of the law. 29 Or is God the God of Jews only? Is he not the God of Gentiles also? Yes, of Gentiles also, 30 since God is one—who will justify the circumcised by faith and the uncircumcised through faith. 31 Do we then overthrow the law by this faith? By no means! On the contrary, we uphold the law (Rom 3:21-31, ESV).
