  4. πŸ“– And since they did not see fit to acknowledge God, God gave them up to a debased mind to do what ought not to be done (v. 28).

  5. πŸ“ Paul warns that rejecting God leads to moral collapse. Three times he says God “gave them up” to their desires, resulting in distorted thinking and sinful living. Sin is living as if God doesn’t matter. Acknowledge Him as Creator, honor His Word, and choose obedience over self-rule.

7-Step QT Notes

1. πŸ™ Quiet Time

Pause.
Take a deep breath.
Ask God to open your eyes to His truth and give you a heart that honors Him.

2. πŸ“… September 3, 2025

Today’s passage reminds us:
Ignoring God leads to a downward spiral—but honoring Him brings life and freedom.

3. ✝️ Romans 1:18–32

Paul paints a sobering picture:
When people reject God as Creator, they don’t just ignore Him—they replace Him with idols, lies, and self-made rules.

Three times Paul says, “God gave them up” (vv. 24, 26, 28).
This means God allowed them to follow their own desires—even when it led to brokenness and shame.
Sin isn’t just doing bad things—it’s living as if God doesn’t matter.
And when we push God out, our thinking becomes distorted, and our hearts grow hard.

4. πŸ“– Key Verse

“And since they did not see fit to acknowledge God, God gave them up to a debased mind to do what ought not to be done.” (v.28)

5. πŸ“ Reflection

This passage is heavy—but it’s real.
Our culture often says, “Do what feels right. Live your truth.”

But when we ignore God, we end up enslaved to desires that can never satisfy.
Paul’s warning isn’t to shame us—it’s to wake us up.

God’s wrath isn’t random anger; it’s letting us experience the consequences of rejecting Him.
The good news? We don’t have to live that way.
When we honor God as Creator and Lord, He renews our minds and fills us with true life.
So ask yourself:
Am I living like God matters—or like I’m in charge?

6. πŸ’¬ What does this passage speak to you today?

  • Where am I tempted to ignore God’s authority in my life?
  • What “idols” (success, pleasure, approval) compete for my heart?
  • How can I honor God as Creator in my choices this week?

7. πŸ™ Prayer

God, forgive me for the times I’ve pushed You aside.
Help me honor You as Lord in every part of my life.
Renew my mind and lead me in Your truth.
Amen.

Scriptures

πŸ“– 18 For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who by their unrighteousness suppress the truth. 19 For what can be known about God is plain to them, because God has shown it to them. 20 For his invisible attributes, namely, his eternal power and divine nature, have been clearly perceived, ever since the creation of the world, in the things that have been made. So they are without excuse. 21 For although they knew God, they did not honor him as God or give thanks to him, but they became futile in their thinking, and their foolish hearts were darkened. 22 Claiming to be wise, they became fools, 23 and exchanged the glory of the immortal God for images resembling mortal man and birds and animals and creeping things.

24 Therefore God gave them up in the lusts of their hearts to impurity, to the dishonoring of their bodies among themselves, 25 because they exchanged the truth about God for a lie and worshiped and served the creature rather than the Creator, who is blessed forever! Amen.

26 For this reason God gave them up to dishonorable passions. For their women exchanged natural relations for those that are contrary to nature; 27 and the men likewise gave up natural relations with women and were consumed with passion for one another, men committing shameless acts with men and receiving in themselves the due penalty for their error.

28 And since they did not see fit to acknowledge God, God gave them up to a debased mind to do what ought not to be done. 29 They were filled with all manner of unrighteousness, evil, covetousness, malice. They are full of envy, murder, strife, deceit, maliciousness. They are gossips, 30 slanderers, haters of God, insolent, haughty, boastful, inventors of evil, disobedient to parents, 31 foolish, faithless, heartless, ruthless. 32 Though they know God’s righteous decree that those who practice such things deserve to die, they not only do them but give approval to those who practice them (Rom 1:18-32, ESV).
