7-Step QT
- π Quiet Time
- π July 16, 2025
- ✝️ 1 Timothy 6:1-10
- π For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evils. It is through this craving that some have wandered away from the faith and pierced themselves with many pangs (v. 10)
- π Paul’s ancient letter to Timothy still challenges today’s believers. Among his teachings, the warning about the love of money in verse 10 stands out. In a world obsessed with wealth, Christians are reminded to desire Christ above riches. True spiritual wealth comes from pursuing godliness, not material gain.

7-Step QT Notes
1. π Quiet Time
Pause.
Take a deep breath.
Ask God to speak to your heart today—not just to inform you, but to transform you.
2. π July 16, 2025
In a world that constantly tells us to “get more,” today’s Word invites us to ask:
What are we truly craving?
3. ✝️ 1 Timothy 6:1–10
Paul gives Timothy practical instructions for leading the church—but also a powerful warning:
The love of money can pull us away from faith and pierce us with pain.
4. π Key Verse
“For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evils. It is through this craving that some have wandered away from the faith and pierced themselves with many pangs.” (v.10)
5. π Reflection
Imagine Paul writing a personal letter to a young leader—Timothy. Even though this was written nearly 2,000 years ago, it hits home today, especially in a culture where success is often measured by wealth, status, and possessions.
Paul isn’t saying money itself is evil. He’s warning us about the love of money—when our desire for wealth becomes a craving that controls us. In today’s world, that might look like:
- Chasing a high-paying job at the cost of your integrity or calling.
- Measuring your worth by your bank account or social media lifestyle.
- Feeling anxious or empty when you don’t “have enough.”
Paul reminds us that godliness with contentment is great gain (v.6). True wealth isn’t in what we own, but in who we are becoming in Christ. We’re called not to be rich in things, but rich in faith, love, and generosity.
π‘ Bottom line: Don’t let money be your master. Let Jesus be.

Scriptures
π 1 Let all who are under a yoke as bondservants regard their own masters as worthy of all honor, so that the name of God and the teaching may not be reviled. 2 Those who have believing masters must not be disrespectful on the ground that they are brothers; rather they must serve all the better since those who benefit by their good service are believers and beloved.
Teach and urge these things. 3 If anyone teaches a different doctrine and does not agree with the sound words of our Lord Jesus Christ and the teaching that accords with godliness, 4 he is puffed up with conceit and understands nothing. He has an unhealthy craving for controversy and for quarrels about words, which produce envy, dissension, slander, evil suspicions, 5 and constant friction among people who are depraved in mind and deprived of the truth, imagining that godliness is a means of gain. 6 But godliness with contentment is great gain, 7 for we brought nothing into the world, and we cannot take anything out of the world. 8 But if we have food and clothing, with these we will be content. 9 But those who desire to be rich fall into temptation, into a snare, into many senseless and harmful desires that plunge people into ruin and destruction. 10 For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evils. It is through this craving that some have wandered away from the faith and pierced themselves with many pangs (1 Tim 6:1-10, ESV).
